WOW! What a club. Spent the last week reading as much as I could. Memebership is in the mail. Although I found this by accident.
I've had my Clipper for two years and it has been great. Bought it from a previous owner who had a detail shop so it was immaculate when I got it. Unfortunatlly I found this site by doing a search for parts.
Going to Monterey last week end on Friday night the rear driver outside tire peeled going though the undercarrige like a weed wacker. Propane line severed, Water pump housing broken, water inlet broken, Plastic fender well shattered, Four inches of plywood that the water pump is attached to GONE. Steel plating peeled back, Outer fiberglass cracked. Gas line clamps loosened.
After changing the tire went on to my destination and I did not let this dampen our plans. Went to Wall Mart in Salinas and got parts to repair Propane line. NO water available for washing or flushing but could keep food cold.
Need a lot of help now, with what is required But I can't wait two weeks to have membership applied. 1st Question Water pump: Where and what model? Plastic fender well: Where? I will do most of the repairs myself.
Thanks in advance  Juan

Back to Mel our Clippeer supply man.
The last time I talked to him he had a few extra Clippers laying around.
He lives fairly close to you. Good luck.

If Mel can't help - there used to be a "dead" Clipper in a junk yard out in Moss landing (a long drive for you I know) - I used  to poach parts off it regularly - and I'm quite sure the wheel wells are still there.
I'm "planning" on doing my monthly wrecking yard tour this Sunday - and will let you know if it's still there and worth a trip down for you.

You can get most any water pump - nothing unique to Clipper as far as coach water pumps - almost any SurFlow will work (not sure about that spelling on SurFlow.

Just out of curiosity - how old were your tires?
Good luck with your fixes!

Geez, I noticed that you guys are all from some of the few CA places I have visited.  I was in Fresno for a week of Pelco training second week of May, Livermore in Aug 04 for a family reunion, and well, Santa Cruz was more than 25 years ago.

I would like to have seen your clippers.  Next time????? who knows... :?:

I am always interested in the emissions configs of our rigs.  All the manuals I have refer to emissions devices that I don't have such as the air pump and the vacuum thingamajiggy on the air cleaner housing.  Vacuum line routing is a mystery to me.  I just make sure they are all marked before I move em.!

emissions? emissions??!!
I don't need no stinking emissions.......heh heh

Free at last.......free at last........Lord thank goodness I'm free at last............no more emissions concerns for me, or any other 1975 Clipper owners in California - smog exempt!

woohooo

sorry about the bragging rant - but I have had to jump through "smog hoops" for years - and now I'm free!!!

took the Clipper out this past weekend (first time out in a while) - down Highway 1 to Plaskett Creek Campground in southern Big Sur - ran like a champ,  10+mpg on the way down, only 9 coming back (windy)

Thanks for the info. Ordered Sureflo pump due in a few days.
Tires are 3 years old stored with cover so there were no signs of sun Checking or damage. Contacted Tire manufacturer of course nothing they can do since tire peeled and ran damaged so failure cannot be determined. How was the Salvage yard trip? parts still available? Had to slow down on repairs but it will be repaired and on he road again.
