Noticed my house battery was not keeping a good charge and it is supposed to be relatively new.  So today, I pulled it out and ended up putting almost half a gallon of distilled water in it to bring all the cells up to proper level.  Can anyone tell me how to avoid overcharging, any relay, switch, module or whatever can I install or replace?  AND the big question is how do I do this?  I'm still discovering things and where stuff is.  sigh.....  I need some help here please.

Bought a new batter Thursday afternoon and solved my battery problem.  When I took the battery into the shop it tested bad.... also they read to codes on the battery and it was a 2003 battery, so it lasted a long time, gave good service and has now been sent to the battery happy hunting ground!
