High Fuel Costs

Due to the current high cost of fuel was wondering if folks are considering selling their rigs or storing them until the prices come down, which I doubt will. I have a guy wanting to buy my '78 21 footer w/440. He still wants if even after I told him what to expect on fuel mileage. Hate to part with this puppy because of all the work I have done on it. Plus I love a good challange. Never know what the old "Clip" is to do on a long trip. Depends on her mood.

Here are my thoughts on that subject. 500 mile round trip to the lake pulling a 28ft pontoon boat about 100 gallons or a little less. 389.00   10 day stay  38.90 per night with no taxes. 10 night cheap motel with no place to cook or scenery to enjoy 700.00. I personally think I'll keep mine for a long long time. Just a thought.

I agree with LarryRay. We took a 15 day 2100 mile trip and spent less than $100 a day for both of us. We cooked our own food as we do at home, $2 for a coin op laundry, used about $10 of propane, and a couple quarts of oil and a fan belt. I do think a short trip with lots of driving would skew things a bit unless it was to an area with $200 a night rooms and pricey resturants. Here are some pics of our $99 B&B

Thanks for slapping some sense into me LarryRay.
We, (well mainly me) have been wincing at fuel costs (about $4.60 now for regular) - and it has
inhibited our travels.
BUT - I have lost touched with hotel costs - they are almost a bigger joke than fuel prices!
So all things considered - maybe things aren't so bad (although driving a Clipper in Paris would cost ya!!)

Here's a bold prediction (borrowed from a smart friend of mine) - in 10 years gas will cost 1/4 of what it costs now - (but we are going to get hosed for 3 or 4 years.)
Anyone care to guess why?? (clue = hydrogen)
