Doghouse board material?

Anyone know what the two pieces of material are made out of that are riveted to the inside of the doghouse near the manifold locations. It almost seems to be made out of ceramic or brick type material. It will not burn even in an open flame. Looks like sometype of cardboard just gray in color.
