Rear shock bolt gave way

Hi All,

Took Vanna (my Clipper) out for a weekend fishing trip this weekend and I heard a very loud noise that sounded like a blowout.

After pulling over and checking, it turned out that my rear shock came loose. The bottom bolt was gone and I guess it hit the ground and made the loud noise. The nut on the top bolt had worked it's way off too.

I removed the shock and kept trucking. I could tell the difference when I hit a bump.

I just installed those shocks last May. I tighten them very good. Is there something I could have done differently? What's the trick. Maybe locking bolts or something?
