Generator will run, but will not stop when I push the stop button.  Anyone had this problem?

first thing to check is the wiring to the back of the start stop switch and see if a wire has fallen off then do the same at the gen

Checked all the wires and all are connected.  When I push the stop switch, I'm following the two wires to a connection in panel board, and when I push the button, it is killing the power to there.  Do you know if this generator stops by the coil or by direct ground?

are you pushing the button? or holding it until the engine quits? I don't know about a generac but onans you have to hold the button until it quiits
