Hello,
We are about to buy our first RV., We saw this site because we were referred to it by the old Owner of the RV who got it from her dad when he passed away . We were looking for one due to we do K-9 SAR Search and Rescue K-9 . Strictly Volunteer . We are also US Army out of Fort Lewis WA. Now known as Joint Base Lewis McChord. The model we will be buying is a 1977 The side kitchen setup (look under floorplans on the website) second from the left "SK-FC" is the layout . It has it's small problems. Nothing we hope we can't fix. The old owners left it sit for a year so of course it has it's musty smell and a small leak around the AC unit above. However it is still exact inside as the day it was bought including the disco wallpaper in the bathroom and orange shag carpet on floor and ceiling exp in the front cab area. Then some other individual small items which we will fix . The owner is nice enough to let us make a down and pay the rest in installments since we don;t make that much money and it is our first RV. However the looks of the vintage classic is what drew us in. Nothing like those Clippers . Forget the new RVs. This one has style . Just thought we would stop in and say hi . Our email is captcasey1970@ if anyone needs to get ahold of us . M. Family .

Welcome to the American Clipper Family, Army!!  Navy here and we have every branch and probably component represented in the American Clipper Club Family!!  I'm pretty new to this RV Stuff myself, having graduated from Tents to Camper to RV just recently myself.  I have a 1977 Rear Kitchen Party Model with the Dodge 440 engine and am learning all kinds of good things from the more experienced members.  You will find just about every question you ever had answered here and a lot of answer's you haven't even thought about yet.  I am still spending a lot of spare time just reading and reading and reading.   8)

You will also be surprised to find American Clipper owners pretty close to you as well.  Joining is pretty easy and fast!  Not expensive either (that was an important thing for me as well).  I am looking forward to hearing a lot more from you!

HI Jim Thank you .
I would like to set up membership as soon as we can . Been working on the closing and the deal of the RV. My wife had surgery at Madigan so was recouping . We will be bringing the RV to Base Friday and as far as we can tell only thing that needs to be fixed is the leak around the AC Unit otherwise from what i can tell is immaculate and looks the day they brought it home with a few mod's from the org. owner who passed away who left a log apx 600 pages long of every day anytime he used or did anything to this rv. it's there hours and gas and Evan more . Thank you to the Manual's and anything you could have wanted peaty much i hope is there . .  . Yeah but looks can be deceiving . I want to mention the Year i stated of it being a 1977 was incorrect it is a
1978 American Clipper 21' motor home side kitchen model . I'm not much to motor homes so this will be interesting on how i figure it out. As in electrical components . Also how to work this rig. Can't let the wife down . Realy hope there are others in the WA area near us if anything they can explain the in's and out's of getting it up and going . Better to be safe then sorry . I also would like to ask how to upload pics of the RV when i get it home and ask about the yellow strips on the front upper cab corners . I did load a picture i took the day i was there .

When I bought mine it had been in a carport for two years. I definitely had a funky smell. I found the gray water tank had been left half full all that time. The moldy funk that grew in the tank had stunk up the carpet, cushions, walls inside. I got rid of the stink by buying a ozone generator off eBay and letting it run for inside the cab for a week. Smells like new now. I also put four gallons of bleach down the sink then filled the tank the rest of the way with water and let that sit for two weeks.

Hello again,
Yeah !!! we got it home . Only smell we figured out was from the older blankets and gear the lady left in it as she wanted nothing to do with anything of her father's .Every map receipt KOAA and tourist guild dated back to 1971 is in there .Every warranty manual Evan the ad you all have photocopied to the bill of sale and dealer warranty from when it was bought to every receipt from anything he ever did from oil changes tires and more . This guy was a maticuliouse on everything .I could tell you anything about it to the day anything was changed or fixed .  I wanted to note i have every  manual from every item possible from a clipper if anyone need's anything as in manual wise.Evan the gift box he was given when he bought it of towels to the floor rubber mat .Yesh.  I noticed from driving it home the gas gauge is not moving but then again i drove it home 12 miles .Perfect alignment for last being done in 1992 . Hoping that it read's both tanks at once. lol... He had installed an overdrive and stabilizer's on the rig. Have tarped it and attempted to take off the AC unit from the top with no success as the screws are not gonna come apart after 6 hours and a drill in hand . So i am opening it up from the inside to attempt to find the leak and seal . Deep cell side battery was dead so hooked up my 95 gmc truck to jump start battery  6 months old . and everything pretty much came on minus the fridge .AC works like a charm . Fired up generator with my wife standing some 50 feet away .**lol she may be fire dept and K-9 but her mind say's run .... The Batt water light came on and has stayed on. I looked up on site and i guess that means add water to my deep cell . Tinkered with fridge but i'm thinking it's dead. Checked electric plug it's plugged in and fuse's . Nothing . Pushed button on panel for pump it fired on and saw water dripping outside  and looked at website and then realized to close the drain by muffler. **great website. A++++*  Looked at heater and water tank umm wife say's i use them she'll divorce me for sure. She said she hates gas.and look how old they are.. Now she tells me ...argugggg.....The muffler has a small leak which i'm gonna replace the muffler and tail pipes .The last time they were replaced was in 92 and only been driven 5k since then . Now off the read about this RV . I still have not figured out how to use the septic area. As in dumping .That will be fun. The man had everything for maintaince and jumpsuit with a bib and oil plug more. Guess thats why he had 4 sets of binoculars from 1970 and old timer 1970 erra folding chair's for his wife to sit back some 100 feet and watch and laugh . Who knows. But this baby and her stuff is old back to those days. Amazing reading through manual's dated back then and so much has changed. So if anyone needs any manuals or paper information  i got them all . I wanted to make a quick note i have a booklet as in because mine was a Chevy that i have the incomplete book that tells about the buying of the frame and chassis exc. If anyone needs to see how it is put together as well .
