Took the Clipper for its first run with the rebuild.  7.3 mpg.  Ran like a top! A litttle loud for a motorhome, mech put Doug Thorley headers and flowmaster exhausts.  Might go a little quieter on the exhaust when they need replaced  :D

Did see a 78 Clipper,  L shaped seating around dinette table with couch on the opposite side.  Rear kitchen.  Was on the RV Corral  (highway 99 in Eugene) "bargain" lot.  110,358 miles.  No one was around and there wasn't a price listed.   Only rig on the lot with no price.  Had Washington tags.

Susan,

I can't beleive it... I just read (Tonite - Sunday) your post from November...you know, about the '78 on the RV Corral lot in Eugene.

That Clipper is sitting on my pad next to my home...I bought that Clipper YESTERDAY!!!

It's a diamond in the rough...drove her home 125 mi. to Vancouver, Wash. and I'm happier now than when I bought it for $3800...it listed @ $5,995.  I would have paid more than I did...I guess I'll put what i saved towards changing fluids and a tune.  I went down there yesterday with two friends, one has a mid 70's Beaver coach and the other a 5th wheel...both big RV guys.  If I hadn't have bought it, they would have...it's immaculate.  It's all original, not a rattle coming up.  Are they all this tight?
I'm a lucky guy and it's all about becoming a member of the Clipper Club....are there still meets?   Hopefully so, I'll be anxious to meet with other Clipper owners, see their Clippers and show my new baby off. It is my first RV, I really feel fortunate to have found this, I had no idea it was on the lot that long.  Other peoples oversights were my blessings.  It's SANO!!!

Somebody please let me know about any upcoming meets in the Northwest.

Thank you... and looking forward to 'Clipper news' coming up on my e-mail.

Bill, Thanks for the note.  I do recall that the unit looked pretty nice.  Yes the club still has get togethers. One coming up in Feb 18, 19, 20. Second one this year I think. In Olema, CA.

I think they are quieter than the usual Class "C".  Drives more like a car too, less lean on the corners.   Enjoy, only thing is I hope you or your friends are mechanical, cause it really cost A BUNCH to pay someone to fix things!  Sue

oh yeah whats SANO?

Bill Henry

Susan,

'Sano' is an abbreviation for 'sanitary'...and that my new boy definetely is.

Now it's your turn...where is Olema?

Regards,

Bill

Olema is 10 and 14 minutes south of Vancouver, Wash. according to mapquest. It's near Oakland, California. 654 miles!
