my rear bumper is bent and i would like to repair or replace it for under $200. anyone no of someone that does this repair in san francisco bay area?

How bad is it?  Did you catch it on something while making a turn?  I did that twice and was able to fix it myself--not perfect but not really noticable either.  E-mail a picture to me:  duke_91301@yahoo.com.

I'm so glad someone else admitted to this before I did. My only problem is I staged it on the original and got upset and bought another and did it two weeks later...

Ah -ha, now I see why my Used Clipper has both sides of the rear bumper torn off at the frame.........

I was going to swipe a bumper off an abandoned Full sized tilt cab
old Ford truck....and drill holes to mount it.   With my luck I would
get in trouble for it.

I've been looking all morning for one of those 4 inch square Aluminum bumbers to replace my current chrome bumber. Mine has seen better days!

I took it to oil changer place and they bent it trying to pull out of the service bay. its bent to the point where it is starting to crack where it monts to the frame. anyone know if this can be repaied.

bigray

Mine is bent in the same place. Surely somebody has replaced the bumper.

I bent mine at the mounting bracket and broke the weld between the mounting bracket and the frame.  I laid the bumper(chrome side down)
on the garage floor with a 2 foot long 2 x 6 under each end and another
2 x 6 on top of the bent portion.  I put the whole thing under the Clipper
with a small floor jack between the 2 x 6 and the frame of the Clipper.
I was able to straighten the bumper just fine.  Picked up a piece of
angle iron, drilled a few holes in the angle iron and the frame, and it looks like new.

Depending on where you live, there are bumper repair and exchange business' that will repair (weld, straighten and plate) all types of bumpers.  It's not cheap but when you can't buy a new one it's the next best thing.  Check the yellow pages and/or ask your local wrecking yards for the name of such a business.  A few years back I hooked mine and took it to Stockton Bumper Exchange.  It was difficult to find the damage when they were through and that was observed on the back side of the bumper.

FREE BIRD.
  There is a strong possability that the rear bumpers that came out on the later model Born Free mini motor homes iare an exact duplicate of the Clipper rear bumpers. I have been observing this for the last four years. :o  However1 I have never actually gotten to checking the bolt hole patterns. I plan to check it out next time I tweak mine. To date I have had it straightened and welded twice  . Fortunately it bent at the bolt holes ,so the welds do not show since my spare tire is mounted on the right rear side Bob

I think I'll just opt for the 6 inch steel pipe filled solid with sand.....
Paint it Crash Test dummy black and yellow.....
Brace up the frame a bit....  and put a bumper sticker that says
OPPS My Bad.

I'm still working on my trap door compartment all along the
back under the tail.... filled with welded up tiny nail "tank Trap"
balls....And a soleniod to pop the drop door open....
then a James Bond Button in a slide open compartment on the
dash....
