Does anyone have manual guages hooked up like the oil pressure, volts, and water temp? If so could you tell me where you put the water temp guage. I have a 1978 Dodge 440 engine. The sending unit is on the front of my engine and the hole is to small for my new sending unit to go into into. I'd appreciate any help you can give me. The new guages are made by SunPro.

I put a set of Beede guages in my '78 - it seems to me that there is a plugged hole very near the one your sending unit is (was) in which is larger and might accommodate your new unit.  An adapter may be required to mate up the threads.  It's a fun spot to get at, isn't it??

Thanks Uncleleroy but I didn't see anything around that area, or should I say feel anything in that area, and yes it is a very difficult place to get to. I'll keep looking and hope some body else might answer me back. Maybe no one else has installed manual guages because of this reason! Maybe I'll post it again and reword it in a different way. Thanks again for your input.

Depending upon the casting you could drill out and rethread. I would not recommend doing it in the oil system but the cooling system should not be bothered if you get some metal chips in it. If it is cast iron using a magnet should clean up the debris. I have a temperature guage from Summit racing and 3 sending units. One each for water, oil, and trans temperature. They are small sending units so the size should not be an issue. (Now to find a 3 position switch)

Thanks for the suggestions but I was fortunate enough to locate a square headed plug on each side of the block just below the heads that worked great! I used the one on the passenger side because it allows more room to work. Thanks Again!
