Our unit did not come with a generator and are considering one.  How much wattage do we need to run the A/C?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A 4 kva is standard that will run the air and anything else you could have

Thanks Jim.  There are sooo many different types and options out there.  From $500 to $5,000, and from 90# to 200#.  I've heard Honda is very quiet but expensive;  Generac is cheaper but noisy.  If you run it at night do you get used to the noise?  Any comments would be appreciated.

From what Iv heard and seen Honda has it hands down you can't even hear them run hardly,     what ever you do don't get a Koler I have one in mine and it sounds like a B-29 on a take off run if you can aford it I'd diffently go honda

Generators. most generator mechanics will recommend the Onan 4.0 BFO unit that came in most 1978 and later Clippers.Onan mechanics tell me that it is the single best most reliable unit ever installed in motor homes, describing it as
"Bullet Proof"     but not as quite as some.Bob Chaney

Thanks guys.  It pays to have as much info as possible before making a decision.  I try to tell my grown kids the same thing, but it seems when we're young we have to learn from our own mistakes.

You might want to consider a Generac generator.  Go to http://www.norwall.com/, click on Monthly Specials and go about half way down the page.  They sell a Generac Quietpac 40G, Model 04700, 3600 watt generator for only $1,279 with free shipping.  It comes with a maintenance kit, remote start panel and tailpipe kit.  I bought one about three months ago, installed it and it works great.  In my opinion it is just as quiet as the Onan Microquiet.  If you do buy one of these, let me know and I would be happy to help you out with installation.  Charlie at: NetConnected@hotmail.com
