I think the dip stick on my 76 Clipper is not calibrated correctly. A Dodge 360 with a stock oil pan never took more than 5 quarts with a filter did it? All the books I have researched state 5, but according to the dip stick I would have to put in seven for it to read full. Thanks  Marty

Hi Marty

All my Dodge trucks from this era always took 6 qts. inc. the filter. The cars were always 5. I think I read in the old newsletters that there was a dipstick accuracy issue at some point. Also maybe the dip stick got switched somewhere along the way? Hope this helps.

MANY dip sticks were not correct in our Clippers, and other Dodges.
For the 360, as stated above - it's 6 quarts with filter.
So, next oil change, do the filter, add 6 quarts, then let it sit for 20 minutes.
Then check oil level (twice), and make your own "mark" on the dip stick (use a metal file and make a line scratch or notch) on where the full mark was. Then compare that mark to what where full mark on the dip stick is, using this difference,  make an adjusted "add one quart" mark.
Worked for me - (as told to me by a now deceased Clipper old-timer at a rally 10+ years ago.)

Hi Jim,  Glad to hear everything is going ok!!!!

I  know that you know the answer to the question.. But ya wanted to just make sure!!

Yes........

I also have a product that might interest everyone....

It is called   COMP"  It is an oil additive...  NOT STP!!!!!!!!

Since trhe Govt guys have taken out the good stuff from the oil...

This is the stuff that you can add to the oil  and relax!!

It is pricey but If it gets me the extra 50,000 miles my mechanic says it will then I will use it..

It is $15 dollars a bottle and should be used every 1,500 miles that you change the oil..

I will include more info toomorrow when I get my new glasses...Hahhahahahah

Blind as a bat... Take care, john

That was what I thought, but after all the questions raised felt I better confirm it.  ha!  I'd rather ask that dumb question than screw up....

Hummmm oil additive?  I'm all for making the engine last longer and increasing the mileage between oil changes.  Also am a lot for less government interference and control over everday life too....  but that goes into another issue probably better left to a different website.  heheheh
