Pulled into the drive way this afternoon.  3422 miles since we left in early September.  Had a good trip. Towed a tow dolly with a Toyota Matrix on it.   It did pull hard.  A lot different than pulling my Suzuki Samurai on all four.  Put in a quart of oil in Eads, Colorado on the way back to Kansas and put in another one in Winslow, Az on the way back.   I really believe that it would stay at one quart low and never use any.  Yep, I think it blows out the first quart no matter.

I did have one event I'll share.  We had spent the night in Seligman, Az.  Got up the next morning at about 06:00.  Started to pull out of the drive way and it was real bumpy.  The thing died on me.  I couldn't get it started.  Just a loud "Clunk"  Then another loud "Clunk"  You know like the engine was froze up or the starter was not kicking in.  Opened the hood and checked every thing.  Took the dog house off and started checking everything under it.  Then I realized the radio and the dome light was working.  What could be causing the engine to not spin over.  Setting there thinking, I look up and seen that the gear shift was in "Drive" just like it was when the thing died.  Put it over in "Park" and Eureka it started.  I like taking off the dog house!!!

We lost a hub cap on I-5 today.  #$@$$%# California roads.  Does anyone have any idea where I could find a 16.5 original hub cap????

Hi Mac, glad you had a good trip! You might be able to find a hub cap on I-5 :D---If you post a picture of it I will keep an eye open for one. I agree with that one quart low idea. I had to pull off my doghouse last month, would not start, had to prime it, guess maybe the float stuck shut. I first thought I flooded it but 440's like gas so much I knew that was wrong :D I want to flat tow a car why did you switch to a tow dolly? Which do you prefer?

I don't like a tow dolly at all.  But it would cost to much to adapt the Matrix to tow on all four.

Is the Matrix an automatic?

Yes it is an automatic.  But putting a tow bar on the front would be cost prohibitive.  Putting one on the Suzuki Samurai was just cutting and welding some ears on the front of the frame.  But with the Matrix I would have to engineer through the plastic and then try to find some steel strong enough to hold the ears.

I have picked up a 92 Dodge shadow convert 5 speed for a toad. The frame horns are perfectly behind the parking lamps via the bumper cover. Their is a shock type of deal that holds the bumper to the frame, I wonder if I could attach to that and pull the car, any thoughts?
