Has anyone here adapted a different generator for use in the Clipper?  We'll also be installing a roof air unit in ours and would also like to know if anyone knows what, if any wiring will need to be added as well as perhaps a new breaker in the panel or will I also need to upgrade the converter?

I believe The Clip is prewired for the AC and genny. There is a J-box in my storage/genny compartment where it is possible to tap in. I also believe the dist. panel is ok ( may need to add a AC breaker), but I would seriously consider replacing the converter section w/a new progressive  w/ intellipower charging module. I have wiring and instructions for that part of the project if you would like them. When I first bought my Clip, the genny was neither running nor wired correctly and my thought was to pull it and buy a portable Honda/Yamaha as I didn't think I would ever run the AC except on shore power.  After my 1st summer trip to the SC coast, I can say driving the Clip in the hot summer sun w/no AC was not the experience I was looking for. Luckily, I was able to resolve the  wiring/genny issues and all is fine. If you can do w/o the AC while boondocking/driving, I would still consider a portable quiet unit - my Onan 4k is fairly noisy, smelly and vibrates the Clip enough to be annoying at rest.  Working on the unit is also is a pain for diy, and big $ for parts and pros.

Thanks Dave.  My plan was to actually install a portable unit in the storage compartment and add an exhaust extension and louver the door to allow air in.  I don't know if I'll ever run the roof air while on the road since our dash air is quite good and blows cold enough to allow a small fan to circulate the air through the rear.

By all means, please forward the wiring diagrams and instructions since I was planning to replace the converter later down the line.

I put an Onan MicroQuiet 3600 in mine.  Though after have that and now having a portable Yamaha 3000.  I'm not sure why Onan thinks it's so quiet, but it's not as loud as a contractor type genny.
