Does anyone have expierience with adding a front sway bar to a Dodge Clipper?

Does your rig have air shocks (rear)?  I think these would more effectively control sway than an anti-sway bar at the front.  I keep mine at about 75-80 lbs., and things stay quite stable.

I have leafs with heavy duty shocks, HD shocks up front.  I have been interested in the posts about the light front end feel due to the power steering units used thinking that sway bars could help some.  My unit does roll a bit during turns and high winds.  Seems the light steering adds to the problem when I try to correct against a sidewind.

Someone had added a sway bar to the 1989 that I bought.  Had to take it off because the steering arms would bang up against the sway bar while in a turn, hitting the a castle nut with a cotter pin through it.  Though enough banging might make the nut loosen up, even with a cotter pin.

Conrad, Take a look at this product (Steer Safe)I think this is what you are looking for.

I have it on my rig and it makes a lot of difference on high winds, passing trucks, rough roads. A Sway bar would be nice too!

I relize this is an old post but I am asking the same question and am finding that a sway bar was not an option on Dodge chassis of our vintage.
I was looking at the local wrecking yard yesterday to find the started installing them on the 80's models on the Vans. I am tempted to get the parts from the later vans but this would take some modifications to possibly fit. the size of the bar might not be large enough for the clippers.
A sway bar would be a real good thing I am going to keep looking. Have you found anything yet Conrad?

i added aftermarket front and rear sway bars in addition to all four gas filled shocks to my '77 dodge chassis clipper and it made a huge difference in the handling.
the sway bars were from a company called ADDCO. they were purchased as a special order through a local parts house for about $225.00 each about 5 years ago.
they were somewhat easy to install needing some drilling and basic hand tools.
the steering is too light to the feel as previously posted, but the sway bars did help in any over-correcting sway in corners.

This is what I googled up just a munute ago.

I priced the brand you installed they were 265 now. ouch
I am going to call this place in the AM they are in UTah.
there is a company called firm feel which can reprogram your steering box to make it have a firmer feel but is kind of spendy I had this done to 70 GTX a few years back It did make for a nicer drive.
thanks for the reply good to hear someone has done this its really crazy that on these homes it wasn't done when they were built.

No, I never did anything about it.

I got the sway bar installed in about an 1.5 hours. cost just under $200 delivered to the shop.
its 1 inch dia. came with all of the brackets and bolts.
best 200 dollars I have spent on the old girl in a while. What a HUGE difference it made. besides taking out the side to side sway it also reduced the bounce I was experencing after I intsalled a set of coil over shocks on the front.
if you don't have a sway bar on your Clipper I would highly recomend this upgrade. I am going to be installing one on the rear next.. after my bank account recovers from the suspension rebuild I did last month.
