R & R Heater Core in 1977 Clipper

Hi out there in Clipper Land!!!
Does anyone have any experience in having to take out the heater core, and if so would you expound on it for me a little!!!!

Kelly, I took mine out because the heater/air conditioner fan housing was rusted out on the bottom.  I took the entire system out as a unit.  I think that's the only way to replace the heater core, but it might be possible to do it by removing the ducting under the dash on the driver's side to expose the core and remove it through the opening into the firewall.  That's what I'd try first.  There are small bolts through the bottom of the glove box and under the dash that hold the heater duct in place.  I think there are some long screws through the firewall, too, and once you have the ducting out you can see the bolts that hold the core in place.  Coolant must be drained, and hoses detached, of course.  A replacement core would be installed by the reverse procedure.
 I'd sure check the bottom of that fan housing - I think it's fairly common for these to rust through.   -uncleleroy
