Jim 317--Back firing generator  and radiator removal. As a suggestion you might try adjusting the carburator, leaning down the fuel and possably slowing the idle a bit.If you have a shut off valve in the fuel line,[a good idea anyway] when you want to shut it down ,just turn of the inline fuel valve. That should remove the excess fuel, stopping the back firing. If All else fails you should consider replacing or rebuilding your carb.--  As to how high you need to jack up the front end to pull the radiator.I have pulled mine several times for various reasons. About one foot, the hight of the average home drive on mechanics ramp is plenty high. While you have your radiator off.is a great time to section your fan shroud. There is a great article in the back news letters on how to split it into three pieces.I elected to split mine into two pieces ,jointed top and bottom for easier access. It works great when you find your self out on the road and need to replace your water pump etc.yourself.It will also save you some labor time if you have a mechanic repairing your rig. thanks Bob I was hoping that it come out with less than the hight of the ramps because I'v got to do it in the drive way but I'll do it some how can't drive it the way it is cutting the schrod sounds like a great idea I'll put that on the work list thanks again for the info
