I have dealt with these folks before.  Got a water heater with "blemishes" at about half the price that I founds elseware.

Hello Jon, I read your post, you said you were having trouble bleeding your brakes. The first thing you need to do is bench bleed the master cylinder, making sure to get out all the air bubbles before installing it on the brake booster. Also I belive you said your rig is a 1976, mine is a 77 and the bleed valves are on the top of the caliper, hose at the bottom. Make sure you have the right calipers and hoses 76 & 77 are the same 78 is different. The 6th number on your vin number will tell what year it was made. Make sure rear brakes are adjusted up real close, because Chrysler uses what they call a hold off valve so the rear brakes apply 1st, then front brakes. If they are not adjusted up the pedal will go down alot more until you get a good pedal. It helps a great deal to use a preasure bleeder. If you dont have one make sure not to let the master cyl. run out of fluid. Bleed right rear 1st, left rear 2nd, right front 3rd,left front 4th. Also helps to use a brake dye so you know when you have completely changed out all the fluid with new 4 dot. When finished your pedal should only have maybe 2 inch free play.  Good luck ! Hank out

hmmm........from what I'm reading - it's a no brainer - the 79 for sure.
Since both need new tires ($1,000+) - let's move on to to other issues for each

The 76
-Leaking exhaust manifold - unless you do it yourself - that's going to be $400-500 if all goes well and you have an honest/good mechanic  - it can cost more.
-Owner only had it 5 months - red flag! - he or she has given up on it (my opinion)
-Soft spots, ceiling rot, etc - can be a bummer as you don't know how bad it really is until you tear into it - and you might be horrified at what you find..............
Oven doesn't work - that's a bummer - but why doesn't it work - could be something simple, or the sign of somethingmore serious.
-"Big chunks" missing in fiberglass - that's simply not good.
-No AC (I don't know if you mean cab AC or the roof-top AC - but either way  - no cab isn't the end of the world - no roof-top is rough if you go to really hot places with hookups - and you have no AC)

The 79
-No fridge - well there are cheap ways around this, or replace for over $1,000 installed. Cheap includes just using a cooler! - or getting a small electric fridge, etc.
-100 watt generator?? - I don't think so - maybe you meant a 1000 watt generator? - like a small Honda or something? Those are nice and will run your lights, small appliances, a TV and such - MAYBE even a small fridge - but it will NOT run your roof-top AC - not even close.
-Bunk bed in place of couch? That might be cool  - especially if your kid wants to take a friend.
-No dash AC - no big deal.

Hey, by chance is the 79 interior done with red vinyl seat coverings? And are the bunk beds permanent?  I once saw a Clipper that had bunk beds in place of the couch behind the passengers seat -  but the top bunk would flip back down to become a back-rest to the bottom "bunk" - therby making it a couch again - a very slick mod.

The engine rebuild on the 79 makes this an easy choice in my book. As long as someone started it up and drove it every once and while - still you might need to replace hoses here and there, etc.

Good luck!

Thank you for your reply.
I am overwhelmed with the amount of things I need to understand in order to purchase one of these.
After looking at both this weekend I have fallen in love. Here is what I have found.

The 76
48000 miles
The issues I saw
No AC, exhaust manifold leaks, Soft spot in the inside behind cab area. ceiling in bathroom is rotted.
Paneling in most of it has been replaced. Tires are cracked along the sidewalls. Owner has only had it for 5 months. Exterior looks like its been repaired in many places and also has some big chunks missing.
Oven does not work. One burner on Stove does not work. Shower faucet leaks.
The good.
Generator works. Roof AC works
Interior is in decent condition.
Some of the carpeting replaced with tile.

The 79
Been at a storage unit uncovered since 07
No apparent leaks
everything works except the fridge.
Does not have original generator but has been replaced with a 100 watt one.
Roof ac works and dash ac is intermittant.
440 Engine was rebuilt 5k miles ago and it purrs.
Tires need to be replaced.
Interior remodeled. Couch removed and replaced with bunk beds.

Both have great appeal.
Thanks again.
Once I decide I will be joining the club.

John,
The evaporator unit is usually the cause of fridge problems. Go to rvmobile.com They have on the web site things to look for to diagnose the problem(amonia smell, heater testing, ect,).They are located up here in the Seattle area. I replaced the evaporator on the fridge in my fifth wheel and it really wasn't too difficult a job. I did seem fairly daunting at first but like anything else if you take it one step at a time I had it done in a few hours. The cost, $400 for a rebuilt evaporator compaired to a new unit(and the replacement unit wasn't the exact same size) seemed like a deal to me. Look into it.

Im in northeast Nebraska....Why do you have to take the rear axles out to change the brakes? Ive never heard of that before. They are just normal drum brakes in the rear arnt they? Thats one thing on my list of things to check out over winter.
My boss built a nice 80x80 heated shop and I already told him Im claiming a corner to put the clipper in so I can fix a few things and get her cleaned up over the winter.

Sounds as if you are having one head ach!!

I had a friend of mine come over and let me learn from him.  He disconected the master and bled it Clean.. then did the right rear then did the left rear then the right front and the left front..  And I am glad to say...have breaks.. but now I see the calipers and pads should need a change...  Then I have to take the back axels out and replace the rear breaks

Something I havent done in 7 years......  kinda scary just thinking about it.

Jon, where ya located???  I be here in Souther Ca.
Hope ya get the bugs out of those breaks!!!!

John

Im having a hell of a time bleeding the brakes. My brother and I worked on it for a couple hours. The bleeder is located tward the bottom of the cilaiper. On other vehicles its located tward the top. We got em prety good but I still have to pump up the brakes. The pedel goes all the way to the floor then let it come up and I got all kinds of brakes and they dont fade away. I even called a buddy that owns a auto repair shop and he said open the bleeders and let gravity do the work. Just keep topping off the resivor in the master cylinder. But that didnt work either.
Its only 12 miles of country roads to the campground so i took it anyway. just drove extra carefully. Its not like i had to get on the interstate or busy highway.
