Greeting Everyone,

I'm a little bias but I think I have the cleanest Clipper around. Share your photos.

And even if it weren't for the DQ, he'd lose anyway.   Just LOOK at that messy dash!!!!!!   Geeze.

Besides, he cheated.   Had all the dirt painted over.

You have a point  Andy - but then I just realized I may have misunderstood BigRay - I think he meant "the cleanest Clipper around".....Houston!

Texans don't wash their motorhomes do they?
They just wait until it rains........
ha!

Yeah, I know Horst.... these nervy, smartass 26 y/o braggarts with painted-over dirt really grate me too!!!!   Sheesh

And come to think of it... you're probably right about his maybe meaning the cleanest one in Houston... what, with that messy dash and no Clipper decal.  Notice he took the belt-line trim off so he wouldn't have to clean that either?  Guess he couldn't paint those.

Then again, know what?  Looking again at that dash, missing trim and where the decal should be... he mustta meant some PART of Houston, huh?  Well wait.... on further thought... for ANY chance to win his own contest.... wonder if he REALLY meant his own block?   Mustta figured if he posed his cute Little-Ray-Model munchkin in there, we wouldn't notice those little details, huh?

Hmmmmm... another thing.  With all those other flaws... wonder why he posed the cute kid right there.... WHAT'S HE HIDING BEHIND THE MUNCHKIN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?  Bettcha it's a mud-speck!!!!  The nerve!!

HUH Ray?!?!?!?  Thought you could pull one over on us, huh?  HUH??

Boy, tuff crowd :!:   I ain't putting mine up util it gets the air intake grill repainted.  You guys will probably ding me for the see-through brown paint stripes on the engine hood.  Now I am gonna hafta put more time into it...

Well....to be honest......guess I have to DQ my Clipper as well - seeing as I have a 73 grille on it...............I just like how they look better than the stock plastic ones
Title: Cleaniest Clipper contest
Post by: Horst on July 31, 2005, 07:31:07 PM
Come on Conrad!
Post a pic of your Clipper - we'll excuse the chipped, cracked and unpainted grille.............there is a feature in Photoshop called "Blur More" - maybe you'll want to use that when prepping your photo??

boy we are a tough crowd...........heh!

Seriously though, many years ago when I bought my Clipper, I spent months cleaning it and fixing (like most of us do, or have done when first getting one) - and then it was (in my opinion) "ready".
So I took it to a Clipper rally - not a big national one - just a local one - in Waterford..........that's when I realized my Clipper wasn't so clean afterall!
There were some proper clean Clippers there - let me tell you.
Overall though. mine is pretty darn clean - and mechanically it is pretty much bullet proof. 100+ trips, and only 1 mechanical failure (coil failure) in the summer of 2001 near Manteca in 105+ degree heat.

Scoop of the week........my Clipper may be coming up for sale.
1975, 360 engine, smog exempt, Edelbrock carb/intake, FlowMasters, new tires, shocks, rebuilt everything, all receipts and Clipper Newsletters, blah, blah.......it's a beauty!
The only hitch is I'm looking for a replacement motorhome (as in BIGGER) - and can't sell my Clipper until I have found what I am looking for - which is   a VERY clean 73 to 75 Vogue, Sportscoach, King's Highway, or Travco Class A coach, for under $10,000.

Dammit Horst.... you too????  Bad enough Shayne got rid of his... Ray got that new one (even if he kept his Clip), Aliendude dropped outta sight (probably laying up on top of it somewhere with his Jack Daniels, waiting to ambush someone else, lol).... and now you TOO???  I need my nitro pills!!!

Well, when you do sell it, make SURE it's to somebody with a really great sense of humor (and of course, wonderful mechanical/electrical/glazing/
plumbing/roofing/carpentry/upholstery/carpeting/etc. skills)... and be sure to tell 'em about the forums....  :D

Have to admit there have been times I wished Fred had more room too, but all in all, particularly being able to park in a regular spot (so not having to toad it), he's a keeper.  And in this size, I haven't seen a thing better laid out, no matter how new or how much.  Till I do, Fred's mine.

Yeah... I'd like to see what that '73 grille looks like too... please do post a pic (I promise we won't DQ for it, lol).  Mine was all cracked, etc too, but I Bondo'd and painted it body color last spring, about the same time I made the PVC rear bumper, so it looks ok now.  Not perfect... like Ray's.. but ok.  I'd love to make onna the rallys and see some of the ones you said were near perfect shape.  Be inspirational, I think.

Can't wait for morning, see what Ray has to say when he sees what he started here, lol.

How come more of y'all aren't joining in here and posting???  Trying to let Ray have a free ride????

Sneak away for one weekend and look at all the slander.

Andy, I have no clue what you are talking about becuase you can't see my dash in that picture. That's a reflection (at least I think).

I guess I'm DQ'd then cause I love my Clipper but don't like the sticker. In fact, I don't like stickers of any kind. I have one of the those US maps but haven't applied it to the clipper yet. I thought about putting it and the clipper sticker on the rear window.

And for the record.......I'm older than 26. Old man!

Speaking of grills, you guys are going to laugh your buttss off when I tell you that ironically I ordered a new grill and headlight doors (chrome around the head lights) for my Clipper a couple of weeks ago. I installed the passenger side but they shipped the wrong one for the driver side. I  ordered the parts from Rockauto.com.

The shipment for the driver's side came while I was away this weekend. I'll have to install it and post pictures of it. Looks much better!

Ray, you should know everyone's just messing with you.  Your girl looks fantastic with her new paint, and you obviously put tons of time into keeping her slick.   Congrats!!!!

But.... uhhhhhhhhhh.... that dark diagonal streak across the front of the bunk.... hmmmm.

You're not tall enough to reach that to wash?  Or are ya gonna try to tell us it's just a shadow?

(heh, heh, heh... couldnt resist)

Andy writes........
"Yeah... I'd like to see what that '73 grille looks like too"

As we say here in Santa Cruz.....
"DUDE!! There's a picture in THIS thread of my Clipper with the 73 grille. Lay off that Jack Daniels will ya!"

ha!

yeah - must be on your end - I just tested with Windows and Mac machines - safari, Explorer and Netscape - and my Clipper is there is all her glory....

maybe I won't sell her after all - but two motorhomes at the house? - the wife will not like that and will use it as leverage against me to justify her ridiculous spending habits (can you tell she doesn're read these threads)

hee hee........

Unforunately I'm suiffering from the "bigger boat" syndrome - and can't seem to shake it............
Title: Cleaniest Clipper contest
Post by: bigray on August 01, 2005, 06:55:56 PM
Go ahead and get 2 RV's. I have two. And when pitch the idea of a boat to my wife I'm going to say I don't see anything wrong with having 2 RV's and a boat.....Horst has 2 RV's and a boat.

LMAO Ray, good one!!!!  Yeah, that oughtta convince her, huh?  If I were you though, I'd wait till Horst gets to a 200' Italian MegaYacht, then you could really move up, lol.

Horst, I found it... bad setting was all.  I just saw your pic and I'm with you, I like that better than the orig too.  I didn't realize you could interchange grilles.  Next time I'm at that Daytona junkyard with all the old Dodge (and other) vans, I'm gonna get one.
Title: Cleaniest Clipper contest
Post by: Horst on August 01, 2005, 09:33:56 PM
I don't have no boat! (Unless you call my 86 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser Station Wagon a boat - which it is)

Andy - the 72,73 Dodge Grills fits "almost" perfectly - not all the screw holes match up  - but you don't need to use them all anyways - 8 or so screws holds that grille in place just fine - the headlight area matches up perfectly though.
I spent almost two years looking for one that was in good enough condition to install on my Clipper - but I like the results - and seems to let more air in as well.
Title: Cleaniest Clipper contest
Post by: Andy Illes on August 02, 2005, 03:57:11 AM
Poor Ray.... there goes his boat  :(

Horst... no cooling problems (after the road-trip-fixes anyway, lol) and my stock grille looks pretty good after it's patch/paint.  But like I said, I'm with you on just liking the chrome one better.  I don't know about out there, but junkyards down in this corner don't keep old stuff.  The only place I've found that has any of our vintage is the one up in Daytona I keep talking about.... it has literally dozens!!  Not worried about screws, I didn't put all mine back in anyway when I had it out.

Hey Rastaman... any "old" junkyards over around Tampa?  Be an excuse to visit...  :D

when you said "bigger boat" syndrome I took that as you had a boat and wanted to get a larger one. Didn't realize you were refering to the RV. My mistake..........like Andy said, there goes my boat!
Title: Cleaniest Clipper contest
Post by: Horst on August 03, 2005, 08:12:03 PM
yeah - just a figure of speech
applies to boats, motorhomes, trailers, guns, houses, generators, lawn mowers, computer screens, TVs, and many other items.........

You always want a "bigger" one(s)................applies to certain parts of male, and female, anatomy as well............

I don't want a bigger one I just want to use what I have more. Of course I'm talking about my RV.

Title: Posting pictures
Post by: terry and karen conkle on August 10, 2005, 07:40:50 PM
There would probably be more pictures posted if there was an easy way!  We're not geeks, and between the two of us we can usually get things done, but we've tried- and failed- several times to post pictures, not that our Clipper could win a beauty contest, although it is a beauty in our eyes!   It would be great if this website provided an actual image attachment feature instead of the confusing roundabout option currently available.

By the way guys, is that the same vinyl covering on those cabinets and the fridge that we had in our camper???  We had a hell of a time removing that stuff from ours, but it sure does look good without it!
Title: Cleaniest Clipper contest
Post by: Andy Illes on August 10, 2005, 08:39:07 PM
Yup.... a BIG "10-4" on easier posting of pics.   Hadda ask BigRay to post the ones of mine in the Greetings area.   He keeps telling me it's a no brainer..... easy for him to say, lol.  If I got it half right, you have to do it in some other software or something, then you can move 'em over here.  Not what I'm into.

I sure like that floorplan better'n Fred's too.... lots more moving around space.  What's that round gizzmo onna floor.... heater?

My grille comes off a 1973 Dodge van - 72 grilles fit as well.

Check the junkyards - I finally got lucky - had the idea for 2 years before I finally found one in good shape- for $20!

it is a beautiful day in eureka,ca just had to share some photos with all of you.
my 1977 clipper was purchased new by my mom and dad and given to me about 7 years ago.
my camera obviously does not like the brown stripes down the exterior. they are straight. i am curious though about the mustard yellow stripe. seems most other clipper stripes are orange. any other owners have the same yellow stripe?
i have had a great deal of fun bringing it back to near-new condition.

 None of the pictures up to date in this section are even close to the top condition clipper in the club. the absolute best one is (or at least was) a 24 footer in the Solvang , the little  Danish town off of hwy 101. The members name escapes me at the moment. Next to that I would say Joe Stories 21 footer  in Albany Oregon Would have been  in contention for second on the west coast.  After that, I would say  Our coach , Glen and Glenna Lockmans coach, Shirely and Keith Millers coach, and Bob and Edie luces coach Would be running a close tie for the next spots.  Our Cascade Clippers group were (nearly) famous as a group for the outstanding care of our Clippers.Granted these placings would be a ways back in time. On the other hand this opinion is based on my having seen the majority of the Clippers in the club in my capacity as an active member and supply officer. 8) Keep up the good looks and condition efforts out there. Bob

I remain corrected. Upon reviewing the submitted coaches a second time . I came up on Tom Frideleys coach pictures. You BLEW ME AWAY TOM.  Other than the 24 footer years ago in Sulvang. Nothing I have seen even comes close to what you have achieved. It to was totally redone inside. My congratulations to you. My references in my former posting  were  basically original style and form coaches in pristine condition, either origonal or redone to origonal specs. Seeing yours makes me almost want to start over on ours and make it new again. ( Note: ) I said ALMOST.Bob

HEY!! What about those of us who like our Clippers DIRTY!! Disheveled and used looking is IN! Let's start that contest. I probably only want this because I'm pretty sure I'd win! HAHA! We owners up here in Washington get our rigs cleaned by mother nature all winter long! Why waste precious Summer time sunshine scrubbing and cleaning? It'll just get all dirty again anyways! Well folks the Clipper that started this thread up for sale. I haven't camped with it since December so I have opted to sell it. I simply start and drive it to keep everything operating. I haven't posted it in the classified section yet but will soon. I have more recent photo of it inside and out. Plus I have a list of most of the modifications I've done. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.
