Hi all. I just took my instrument panel out (again) to patch a leak behind it, and remembered to ask this. Anybody know what the rectangular little "can" is that's on a bracket attached to the hot on the ampmeter, with a green wire tagged "3738209... D.I.3\557". Anyone know what that is/where it goes/what it feeds?

Andy, I may be all wet, but if my memory serves me correctly that is the voltage regulator that provide the reduced voltage to all the guages. Somewhere about a five volt output.
I know the one you mean, LR... that one plugs into the pc board, with one lug shared with a capacitor.
The sucker I'm asking about is bracketed to an ammeter post and leads to the hot of a 3-prong relay, which in turn feeds a 2-into-one connector with a green and brown that disappear into the main harness. I haven't found anything that triggers (clicks) the relay.
The numbered paper tag I mentioned leads me to believe it's an added Clipper circuit (even though the 2-into1 connector's a typical Dodge one). I can't find anything comparable on the Dodge schematic either.

I was thumbing through my van owners' manual, and Lo and Behold... there's an illustration of exactly the circuit I was asking about.... two illustrations, in fact, which show that the puzzling "can" attached to the ammeter is either a 15 amp or 20 amp fuse from which a coach builder can run circuits. So I'm gonna guess that's for the clearance lights. Someone in a post about clearance lights said their Clip has a separate switch for those, which I either don't have, or haven't found yet.... but that would explain the relay the mystery fuse feeds.
Where's y'all's switch, if you have one?
