Title: Rear Kitchen Sink Faucet
Post by: paul capps on September 06, 2004, 01:23:24 PM
I have a l978 Clipper with a rear kitchen sink. It has the original faucet and I believe it's a Vollrath model.Arthur, Richard Peterson has supplied a replacement faucet obtion in the tech forum dated 1/5/04. I also see that the supply officer carries O rings for the Vollrath
faucet. Has anyone attempted to re-
place the O rings, and if so, any hints? I hate plumbing and would perfer that over trying to remove the faucet with the unlimited space allowed.

My hint is to ignore all the "pros" at the plumbing supply place who will tell you it is impossible to repair the faucet (they called it "foreign"), and will insist you have to replace it with one costing about $150.
Just buy a selection of O rings, unscrew and take apart everything above the sink, replace the rings and re assemble.  It took 3 trips to 2 different stores getting the wrong rings, and taking it apart 3 times, each time going further inside, but I did it and it hasn't leaked a drop since, at all, ever. If I'd had the right rings in the first place, it would have taken less than an hour, total. And I had never plumbed before. (I then installed my own toilet)

Thank you Phyllis. I will order the
O rings for the faucet from the sur-
ply officer and give it my best. It
does sound like a better obtion than
replacing the entire faucet.
