I have reservations about ordering stuff from the club. No disrespect at all. It's just when I have the time to work on my Clipper I have a very narrow window of opportunity.
In other words, if the family doesn't have anything planned for a upcoming weekend, I need to order a part I need and have it for the weekend. For instance, I need to replace my screw molding in the next two weeks and would like to order.
Without knowing the turn-around for ordering from the club, I'm a little hesitant to order. Believe me, I'd like to support the club by ordering those things provided; however, I don't particularlly like faxing/mailing a form without talking to someone over the phone.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Don't overlook the fact that this club is run by volunteers. Nobody ever said turn around time from ordering to receiving is going to be fast. The key word is patience.
BigRay - Cat is right - just order what you need now - put it somewhere and deal with it when you have the time. If the part(s) don't arrive on time.......oh well - there's always something else to do on a Clipper - like finding the best spot to mount a TV, etc.
And, as Cat said - all ACOC staff are volunteers - and a few of them have been serving for many many years, donating 100s of hours of their time.
We're lucky we have this support mechanism.
If you're looking for a great way to kill a Saturday morning - go wrecking yard hunting - that's what I do, because I'm not worried too much about "Clipper" items - that stuff can be purchased, improvised, repaired, etc.
It's the 70s Dodge stuff that has me worried - I have noticed in the last 5 years alone, a steady decline in the availability dodge stuff - and it ain't gonna get better - so I keep my eyes peeled and grab stuff when I see it.
Check out my "grille" (off a 72 Dodge) - it took me over a year to find a good one - but my patience paid off - I hate the stock, plastic grilles.

I know full well that the supply officers are voluteers and I fully appreciate their efforts, the other officiers, Shane and all of you that reply to the many post.
I can't say that I've ever seen a post by a suppy officer. Maybe one of the frequent post is the supply officer. Hell I don't know.
At any rate, the purpose of the post was to see what others had experienced and to see what we could do to get a tighter window for deliveries. As I said, I have never ordered anything but would like to support the club by doing so. I wasn't criticizing anyone.
I'm not (and Cat isn't I'm sure) at all being critical Ray.
Just saying that if you need it quick, and 'promise" made as to the delivery date - well then - that's probably going to be difficult at best.
Awhile back I ordered a few things, and they came a few weeks after I ordered them - yeah - a bit slow - but, I can live with it.
If I need something "quick", it's Camping World, or my local RV supply store.

I had to do it as well - and quite frankly, the Club's price for the stuff (at the time a few years ago) was too high for my liking - so I went to a local RV shop and bought a different molding - works great, looks great, less expensive - and i got it the same day.
So you guys understand what I mean. :D If I could get the stuff with a little more certainty in regards to delivery date, I don't really mine if it is a little more pricy.
After all it is in support the club. I feel guilty about going to the local rv place to get stuff the club may have. But like I said when I want it, I want it.

yeah - I see what you mean BigRay - because now that I think about it - when I first got my Clipper - when I was fixing/updating, etc. - I wanted to get my stuff NOW, and fix it NOW.....I had forgotten what it was like to be a new owner of a Clipper - so much to do - so little time.
And even after I did all that stuff - I barely made it home one my first trip due to carb/intake manifold problems, which cropped up after about 300 miles on the road.
I should have known to take a shorter trip on my maiden outing - duh!
First trip.... I bought my Clipper in Mississippi and drove it to Houston in November 2003. About a 500 mile trip. I bought it from my uncle who drove it from San Diego to Mississippi a year prior.
In November ,I took a trip form Houston to Atlanta. 1,500 miles round trip. About 350 miles from home my water pump went out. I had my 7 month pregnant wife 2 year old son and my mom a with me.
Worked out well. I was near an exit. So I got some water from the RV freshwater tank filled the radiator (it was leaking from the water pump just about a quickly as I filled it) crank the RV, punched and swithed it off and coasted. I did that twice and was at a Shell station. There was a Best Western right across the street so my family went there for the night.
Guy gave me a ride to autozone to get a waterpump and I ripped everything apart. I got tired as hell trying to put it on and slept in the motorhome until morning. I then called GoodSam and had the RV towed about 1/4 mile to a repair shop.
After about 500 bucks I was on the road and heading to Houston.
And you thought your first trip was long. If I had it to do all over again, I'd do the same thing.

We recently had one given to us for our future Church mission.
But before it was given to us, several things were stolen from it. :cry:
Things like:
Intake, distributor, carb, all 7 tires, fridge, water pump, inverter, converter, generator, a/c ceiling control panel and all cushions. Can you believe that? :?:
We are in need of any information on this that we can get. :!: :?:
Wiring was all cut and loose wires are all over the place.
Can you help us? :?: :?: :?:
