Title: Fan & Other Belts
Post by: Neal S3883 on August 28, 2011, 05:01:09 PM
Was headed off for a camping trip and luckily was only 12 miles from home when the Power Steering belt disintegrated a) rendering steering difficult and b) no water pump.

There are currently two belts (Napa 25-7580 15/32" wide, 5/16" deep, 58 " long) running from the crank pulley to the alternator to the A/C.

There is room for two more belts on the crank pulley, two on the water pump and one for the power steering.

Belt #3, the one that broke seems to be a no brainer - crank to water pump to power steering. Tension adjustment would be made at the P/S unit. This belt was a Napa 25-7595 (15/32" wide, 5/16" deep, 59.5" long). It does look like it might take a wider belt than 15/32".

All three belts were replaced in 2007 and have 5,000 miles on them.

I don't believe there was a belt #4. But it looks like there should be. It looks like it only goes from the crank pulley to the water pump. That doesn't seem practical as there would be no way to adjust it. Or, does it run up to the itty-bitty "pulley" at the end of the alternator?

Any ideas about belt #4 or if the 25-7595 is correct for the Power Steering/Water Pump?

Thank you,

Neal
