Does anyone know what rear axle was installed in the 1979 21'? I can not seem to identify mine by the tag attached by one of the cover bolts. On the tag it reads 41-10 on top and 410 below. But that doesn't tell me whether it is a limited slip that requires the Mopar Sure-Grip additive lubricant. I drained mine and replaced the oil with 90-135 lubricant. Any help would be appreciated. I too have a 79-21.
I do not know what axle we have, but limited slip lube must be used for the limited slip device to work.
Remember, limited slip lube can be used effectively in a regular axle without fear.

The chance of the stock rear end being a limited slip axle is very unlikely. You could, as was suggested. use some kind of grease that would work in either. Consider using a synthetic. As an example big trucks have a 150,000 factory warranty that is extended to 500,000 miles if you use synthetic gear oils. The manufacturers feel that the synthetics are that much better. Also much better for heat control. I got that info from the local oil dealer yesterday while picking up mobil1 synthetic for the transmission. The extra expense up front is more than worth it from what I can tell.
PS has any one ever researched if there is a 2 speed rear axle that would have the proper dimensions and gear ratio to work in a clipper. That would certainly help with mileage and engine wear.
Two speed rear axle. -You could probably find an older Dodge two speed differentual/axle that would bolt up to the Clipper.If you can find a shop mechanic with nough gray to remember anythingabout 70s Mopars oryour otherhope would be the addition of an appropriate over drive installed in your drive line.If thats cost effective or not is questionable.
