I have a 78 clipper and my wife and I relay love it,  But Ive run into a problem
hope someone can help. I had to replace the motor But some friends of mine took apart the old motor and now cant remember where the power steering , alternator and Ac brackets go and in what position, was hoping someone could send me a really good pic or instructions on where and what position to put these brackets.  Also  When I bought the replacement 440 it came off a truck so some tings don't bolt up right seems to be an inch sort in places,I had to try to rebuild the A/C but don't know if I can even attach it to this motor.  I was told that there is a way that I can fix it so the roof air conditioner will work while driving and I wont have to use the one on the motor Hope someone can help me I need to get this back together and get back on the road

Roof air conditioner while driving?? Only if you have a generator - cause there's no way your altenator is going to put out enough for that roof air unit.
Hopefully someone will have pics - there might be some on this site somewhere - search ".jpg" and look for pics - might get lucky.

Frank. I can't get a good picture of the motor in a van because it is so tight. The alt.goes on the P side down low. PS goes on the D side down low. If you send me a picture of the brackets I can tell you where they go. If you have a junk yard around ask them who might have an old 70's Chrysler in their yard. Go take pictures. All big block Chrysler are basically the same. All 440's blocks are the same casting and mounting holes. With everyone having digital cameras today you should always take pictures before you take things apart. I do in my business so I don't waste time trying to remember where something goes.

Thankyou so much for the info, sorry I didnt get back to you sooner having trouble with the computer,

I finally got that part figured out  Thankyou I will probably be back on here soon having some other problems

Hey there 440 --

Just to let ya knowI had my 440 rebuilt by Orange engine in Anaheim Calif.  it cost me $1,400

I had to pull the motor but they did come and pick it up.  Then Brought it back the next week.

I did remove the Air conditioning condencer!!!   Less weight!!!!  and it really didn't cool the cab off

As far as running the roof air while driving???  use the gen I guess...  I don't have one but loe te open air.

Hey John!!  How much hassle do you think it would be to remove the AC Condenser and associated plumbing with the engine in place?  My AC is dysfunctional, looks like it hasn't worked in about 30 yearss!!!  ;-)  Have no plans to spend a lot of money fixing whatever is wrong with it and it does look like things would be easier to get at without it installed.

The only hassle, was to fabricate a spacer large enough for a couple of things

Then there is the smaller belt....  It does make the room to work better!!!!!!

PLUS, it seems to run cooler.  and you wont have the loss of power when you hit the Air.

You can do it, if you have been on ship you should be able.  hell, I was  sparkie in the C G.

And  I figured it out.  One hint, a spacer from home depot ---  a 1 inch piece of pipe an inch long

with a  "NEW longer bolt that bolts on the pasenger side of the motor.  I don't miss that Air conditioner at

all.   If ya need any help let me know  !!!!!!   John
