My furnace blower wouldn't come on so I removed the furnace, took it apart and removed the blower motor. Attached it to a 12 volt source and it wouldn't turn. Took the motor apart and found the armature rough, black and grooved. I cleaned and smoothed it with emory cloth. Put it back together and it worked great. Only problem is the two brushes that contact the part I cleaned are almost worn out, not much left of them. Anyone know where I can find a couple new brushes or a new motor? I already tried Radio Shack. Thanks

Charlie.Try some place that sells the brand of furnace you have. Larry.
For brushes check an alternator repair shop.
Check phone book for 'auto-electric' or something close to that.
Many times you can find a brush that is usable at a hardware store in the section where they have replacement parts. Usually they are in boxes that are close to the nuts and bolts. You can also find lots of odd fasteners, stainless items and misc. rubber and nylon fittings. Brushes are not that hard to find. (//images/smiles/icon_cool.gif)
Thanks for all the suggestions. I found some of the exact brush in a 12 volt fan and they work perfect in the motor. The furnace runs like new now. Thanks again.
