Can anyone recommend a shop somewhere in the Bay Area (I'm in Santa Cruz) that has experience in reinforcing Clipper tow hitches.
My hitch is presently only attached to the "extended" part of the frame, which is woefully inadequate for any sort of towing.
Thanks very much.
I'm also looking for a small (4ft x 6ft) utility trailer.
I would appreciate this info myself. I just bought a 1979 and would like to tow my 19ft. ski boat but, I am not crazy about the way the tow hitch is connected. I live in San Jose.
Horst, I had a hitch installed by Pajaro Valley Fabrication here in Watsonville. They do work for my wife's work. I asked about frame reinforcement and he said it wouldn't be a problem if it was needed. And had an idea that would be cleaner looking and probably lighter wieght than some of the ladder frame type reinforcements I've seen. Currently we're not having any noticable sagging and I'm only using the hitch for a 4 bike rack or pulling my small utility trailer.
You can call them at 768-8060. Talk to Lance, I think he owns the place. Tell them Pajaro Valley Cold Storage sent you (//images/smiles/icon_wink.gif)
BTW - I'm selling my utility trailer, not even a year old yet, only used about 4 times for $5,000. I'll even throw in the Yamaha 4 wheeler for nothing. (//images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) (If I sell the 4 wheeler and not the trailer, I'll let you know.)
