Title: Bathroom Floor
Post by: USNRetired on August 25, 2010, 09:41:51 AM
Hi, I have a 1977 440 Dodge Clipper with rear kitchen.  When I step into the bathroom, the floor rocks a little, like the entire floor is loose.  I noticed it is slightly higher than the kitchen floor as well.  The floor area is just the portion where you stand in front of the sink or shower and the part the toilet is attached to.  When I asked the previous owner, he said the Bathroom floor is a "floating floor."  I need to verify this, or did someone give him some bum information about the floor?  If it is not a "floating floor" any suggestions on securing the floor?  Maybe someone removed screws or whatever when working on it?  The toilet works fine and other than that initial rocking motion when entering the bathroom, everything else seems fine.  Any suggestions, information or help out there in "Clipper Land?"  :-)

Hey there Jimmy Boy,  Floating floor huh,   I don't think

When my daughter and I tore into this boat"  we found things that were sound nd things that were not..

I would check out that floor It should not be a floating floor, after being on 378's
in Ak I have had enough floating things.....  Nail that sucker down but first check it out before you make a mistake....
If you don't like the carpet in the Bathroom then remove it and see if ya got a loose floor.
Talk to ya later Jim....

Last thing I was on that floated was a Guided Missile Destroyer and it was more stable than this floor.  But I suspected what you are saying, but thought I would ask and get advice from someone who's been into these more that I have, so far.  Carpet looks fine and I'm betting after it was installed someone didn't replace a screw or two.  LOL!  Thanks John!

Hi John,

Does this mean that possibly carpet is causing the floor from "seating" properly?

Hi there Jim,  Anything is possible!!!  But with the age of these beauties who knows

I removed the carpet and have had no squeeeeeek.

Then again, I squeeeeeeek every morning when I get up.....

          Take care,  John

Whether you call the floor floating or not, the floor is raised for a reason. The water lines for the toilet and to the kitchen are under it. It was raised to keep from having to run them under the coach or around the corner in plain sight. Sounds like maybe a loose runner under the raised floor itself.

Thanks for the information Larry Ray!!  I'll check out the floor as soon as I get it back from the paint shop.  Which, hopefully, will be sometime tomorrow.
