Title: Bought my wife a new minivan
Post by: prophetdaniel2 on March 05, 2010, 10:11:28 PM
So I got her an olds, 99' silhouette. Its is loaded an in great condition. Bought it from a used lot that buys from larger dealerships trade-in stock. paid $3300. But the only major problem is I believe the transmission is slamming in and out of gear. In fact it slams whenever I strongly accelerate/decelerate. I also suspect that it could be a broken engine/tranny mount. the problem is not enough to discourage me from the vehicle yet. I will swap out the tranny filter/fluid tomorrow as well as oil change.
Any ideas on what generally causes slamming from the engine compartment?

p.s. tranny fluid is not burnt, but could have been changed by the dealer I got it from....

Well, The new tranny filter made no improvement. There was quite a bit of iron filings on the magnet in the pan. :-\
I wonder if the local boy scout troop would rebuild the tranny for me ;D

Hey dan-2, I thought you guys used dog sleds up there in the winter, and they don't have transmission problems, maybe just bad gas if those dogs are anything like my grandson's boxer dog. Don't light any matches around him. Hank Jourdin
