Title: front window seal, roof seal, dump hose storage
Post by: StannSarah0401 on August 18, 2002, 10:07:00 AM
Just purchased a '76 clipper and have discovered a rotten area on right side of front (bed area) window.  The gray trim on outside of the window is pulled away in that corner, perhaps shrunk..?  Is this seal replacable or is some other material (silicon ...?) recommended.
Also, I need to reseal the roof around vents etc.  Is Cool Patch the way to go?
Finally (for now), where is the dump hose normally kept on a Clipper.  Mine is in a tube strapped to the ladder - works, but funky.
Having great fun with our Clipper so far!

To the new clipper owner with questions regarding leaking roof vents.  There is really only one way to properly "fix" leaks at vents and that is to remove the screws, pull up the vent unit and reseal it using the putty that comes in a roll.  Purchased at an RV supply.  I've found that any short cut is just that.  A short cut that may not last too long.  The process is straight forward and once done, you won't have to go back.  RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanizing) or what's known as silicon is not suitable for fiberglass because it will eventually peel after a few years.  Mainly due to the Sun.  I'm saying all of this because of past experience of owning my Clipper for 17 Years.

My original sewer dump line was stored in a square tube along one of the frame rails.  Inconvienient (sp?).  I bought a fiberglass tube storage unit and   (//images/smiles/icon_razz.gif)    I hated drilling through the fiberglass but... I think it was worth it.
