Title: Propane Assist
Post by: Clipperlover10-04 on January 15, 2014, 01:59:08 AM
Hello fellow clipper owners!

Does anyone have a rig with a propane assist on it? My rig has one but I havent tested my propane system yet so i dont even know if it works. If anyone out there has one, does it work effectively and does it increase your gas milage? If so i would like to know, thanks and happy clippering!!

Hi Clipperlover 10-04

I may be able to help, but will have to find my books. I was a propane carburation specialist in the 80's for suburban Propane in Redding Ca. I have converted well over 300 school buses ,vans and picks to straight propane or duel fuel,(can run either gas or propane) but never an assist unit. But will dig out my shop manuals and see if it covers that time of system and will let you know . Give me a couple of days.

Hi Tequache,

Thanks for your effort in finding out about the assist anyway. Thats pretty cool that you worked for Suburban propane back in the day and did all those conversions. Once again thanks for your effort!

Hello Clipperlover10-04,

I Was Reading Your Post On Your Dual- Fuel For Your Clipper, Is It Just A Spray LPG Assist? Or Do You Have A LPG Carb Unit & Converter Set-up?, It Will Have To Have A Rubber Water Inlet To Converter.

Is There A Toggle Switch That Turns It Between Gas & LPG Operation?

When I Was Working As A Maintenance Tech For A Large Company, All Most Of Our Fork Lifts Were either Gas, Electric, Or LPG. In The Plant You Had To Run LPG Or Electric Only.

Most Systems Had LPG Or Gas, To Run On LPG, Had To Shift Solenoid To Open Converter To Get Propane To Century Carburetor.

Can You Post A Photo Of You System, So Others My Be Able To See The System?

Thanks,
Joe
