Title: Are fresh water tanks available new?
Post by: Autoarcheologist on January 30, 2017, 04:18:45 PM
We just came back from "Arvie's" maiden voyage with us to the Oregon coast.  Overall he did really well, but of course a number of small issues popped up.

We found a big crack at the top of the water tank on the corner next to the aisle.  We were getting mysterious water appearing between the cushion and seat base, and it turns out some water was splashing up through the crack.

I have seen a few threads about pulling and patching the tanks, but since its 37 years old and feeling a bit brittle I thought a replacement might be in order.

I know you can purchase rectangular tanks but I have never seen one with the corner cut like ours has.

If nobody has any ideas i will start researching and share what i find.

Thanks!
Ian

Thanks Joe, I have also done a bit of searching and it looks like a 30 or 33 gallon is as close to the original size as will fit without major modifications.  That should be plenty for a weekend, especially since we typically camp with hookups.

For reference for others, the tank measured 38.5" long, 21" wide and 13" tall from what I can measure while still installed.

There is also a cutout where the fresh water intake is, it's 10" x 4.5" x 3".

More as I get into it.

Thanks,
Ian
