Post by: retrorob on June 12, 2013, 08:19:00 AM

Hi Retrorob,
Some of these old Awnings are very old,
Most of the companies are out of business now.
I have been reading other RV Sites,
& Found that some members have looked into vtg. Salvage Yards.

After all that being said, I found online a Web site;
Rvawningsmart.com. Phone#
574.584.3451, they my be able to help you.

I Also, have a Capri Awning but do not have any instructions.
I was able to open it.
Can you post a few photos of it, might be able to walk you through it.

Hope this helps,
Joe

Thanks Joe. I can get the awning to release from the "carrier" but the outrigger leg wont come out from the center. Hope this makes sense.

Hi,
Do you have a button on outrigger, if so push it in at the end you have a catch that is hooked on a cross bar, open about 1/2" to 1" & release from cross bar & you should be able to pull outrigger down, make sure release pin Is depressed so you can open all the way & slide end catch into locking lower cross bar mounting.

Hope that helps.
If you send me your E-mail I can try & send you a video of me opening mine.
Sounds like we may have the same Awnings.

Joe

Clipper Joe
Thanks for the tips on the awning. I was able to deply it last weekend and found it in great shape other than being dirty. Some super soap and a brush brought out the white and avacado green stripes back to full color. Thanks!

Hi Rob,
Glad to hear your Awning was in good shape.
I just opened mine last Month to check mine Also.
I have Owned out 1977 Dodge 440 Clipper Since 2002-03
When I opened Awning thought it was going to be Rotten.
All I had to do is scrub with Simple Green It is Red & White Stripes.
It had a few little tears in Middle was able to seal & repaired nicely.

I always put out riggers up in stowed position & locked in top.
I see some Owners, leave side Arms down.
A & E does not Recommend on Capri II Model.
They said side arms can pop up & come Off :(

Maybe in a year or so I'll update to a newer style Fabric, I really don't like Red & White, looks like a Candy Cane....

Take Care,

Joe
