Instrument Panel Circuit Board

The dash instruments in the Dodge Clippers are connected through a printed circuit board which is connected to the wiring by a single plug similar to old radio tube sockets. Removing and re-installing this plug often causes open circuits at the point where the pins attach to the circuit board, causing loss of gauge readings. The boards have apparently been discontinued by Chrysler, so some members might be interested in this fix.
The pins are swaged into the board, relying on a pressure fit connecting them to the copper traces on the circuit board. I repaired one of these by threading two small wires down through each of the hollow pins and soldering them to the traces on either side of the base of the pins, then flowing a little solder down into the outer end of the pins to make a good internal connection. This repair has lasted for about 6 years with no further problems. So if you experience a loss of readout on any of your dash gauges, be suspicious of these connections, especially if there have been recent repairs behind the dash.
