Recently Terry and I were at Ft. Worden in the upper camp area .  If you have seen An Officer and a Gentleman, then you know what the area looks like.  Level sites, power and water.  A very popular camping area so check on reservations between May and October at least a year in advance.  Yes, one year.  We were lucky and found a site for two nights off season.  Camp spots are located on the lower site next to the water and on the upper site above the old blimp hangar yet below the upper batteries.  Great walking and hiking around the old gun batteries with excellent views of the water.  One can see Mt. Baker and Mt. Rainier on a clear day.  Many of the old officers quarters and NCO's quarters are available for rent.  Port Townsend is a short ride away.  Bring your bicycles.  The local bicycle club puts on a Rhody Ride with several distances as options.  Usually in the month of may.  A great way to see the area.  We recommend the thirty (30) miler.  Easy, nice rolling hills.  Watch out for deer crossing the road.  Port Townsend has a working paper mill yet has an artsy-fartsy community.  We liked it very much.
