VIN #s

I am looking for the manufacturer of the 1976 Amiercan Clippers. We are having trouble matching the VIN #, as it is only 13 #s. Does anyone know anything about this, or whether these vehicles were delivered other than in the U.S.? And of course, it was built on a Dodge chassis. I would appreciate any hints. Thanks.

VIN numbers got revised to a longer string of characters some years after Clippers were manufactured.  I am not sure of which year but I believe it was in the 80's
