Title: Sunset Bay Oregon State Park
Post by: Tyler Hoodenpyle on November 22, 2003, 03:41:00 PM
On a recent trip down the length of Oregon Hwy 101 our stay at Sunset Bay was the most impressionable to say the least!  It is a little of a drive west of 101 a few miles from North Bend/Coos Bay but well worth it!!  Many things to do and see, breathtaking views of rock formations and great easy hikes.  The bay itself is a nice secluded area away from the heavy surf with sandy beach.  There is a  estuarine/sanctuary there to check out as well.  Lots of sea lion watching toward end of hwy.

We totally agree. Sunset Beach state park is exceptional. Besides the features mentioned there is an oustanding arbitorium down the road a half mile or so, along with exceptional scenic walking trails trails along the bluff of the coast Line from the state park south. In the christmas season the Arboratium is lit up with thousands of lights and displays. The road heading south from the camp ground also ends futher south on 101, whBob 32626  (//images/smiles/icon_cool.gif)  ich avoids leaving back out through town.
